Gareth Malone is certainly the most high–profile choirmaster that Military Wives have had, and it was he that helped to establish the choir in 2011, in the BBC television series The Choir: Military Wives. He also led them to their greatest commercial success, with the Christmas No. 1 single of 2011, Wherever You Are. But it's unclear whether he is still involved with this particular choir.
In 2016 the Military Wives released an album entitled Home for Christmas, featuring over 1,000 women from 63 choirs across the UK and overseas. This involved three "choral conductors": Hilary Davan Wetton, Will Dawes and Mark De–Lisser. A further album was released in June 2018 to commemorate the centenary of the end of World War I; this one was entitled Remember, and the conductor was Hilary Davan Wetton.
